The US News and World Report releases its annual rankings of top colleges and universities. Their ranking system breaks down everything from top liberal arts colleges, to private institutions to, yes, top schools for diversity. But according to Georgia Tech’s Gary S May, when deciding top colleges and universities as a whole, diversity needs to be included. I can’t agree more, as the makeup of a university is extremely important. You want to know you’ll have ample opportunities to connect with like minded individuals as well as have a healthy dose of diverging backgrounds. If nothing else, the adding of diversity in the overall ranking will help students have a better overall picture of a school, instead of having to piece together multiple ranking systems.
