Determining what your first job is after college is important. Most university graduates flock to well known options, including large corporations, additional education, or overseas adventures. In today’s world, there are even more options catching on (i.e. startups and small business).
Small businesses make up over 70% of America’s employees and often times are a better fit for new graduates. For young people looking to gain on the job experience and responsibility at a faster rate, small business is the way to go. With fewer hierarchy structure and a more meritocracy format, college graduates can find themselves progressing faster in their career than in other more well known situations.
Starting out, the pay may not be as well nor the ability to brag about the company name, but if someone is looking work hard, you can actually leverage that first job into an even better opportunity in only 2 or 3 years.
