Last night was a celebration of diversity and inclusion in Hollywood. The 68th annual Emmy Awards showcased a wide variety of talent, gender, and ethnicity Hank Steuver from the LA Times provided the overview of last nights show, stating that “By not keeping up with the latest TV you’re not keeping up with the diversifying nature of popular culture, you cretin, you.”
First, I want to congratulate, everyone who took home an Emmy last night. We as a nation are steadily growing and the people within this nation are unafraid to dream. The young children and teenagers who are watching these shows are realizing that all races of people have an opportunity to fulfill their dreams. In my opinion, the Academy Awards and many other award shows should take notice and implement some of the ideas from last night.
A few of the winners included the TV mini series “The People vs OJ Simpson”, with Courtney B Vance (Johnnie Cochran) and Sarah Paulson (Marcia Clark) taking home outstanding actor and actress in a limited series or movie respectively, Regina King for outstanding supporting actress in a limited series or movie for “American Crime.”, and Alan Yang, for outstanding comedy writing for “Master of None,”.
