Accenture has won this year’s Gay and Lesbian Equality Network (Glen) award for best workplace for LGBT employees.  The company beat out Ernst & Young and Microsoft who placed second and third respectively.  Accenture’s LGBT network lead Peter O’Reilly, spoke about the growth of the company in his acceptance speech.  Fifteen years ago, Mr O’Reilly actually turned down a job offer due to it’s unfriendly work environment for LGBT employees.  Today, it is the leading company for Ireland’s LGBT community.

In addition other winners included, “Ernst & Young’s Catherine Vaughan was named senior leader of the year, Dena Y Lawrence of Microsoft was named the LGBT role model of the year and Alice Tolan of Eir was named LGBT ally of the year. Trinity College Dublin was named public sector employer of the year, Enterprise Rent-a-Car was SME employer of the year and LinkedIn’s Out@In was chosen as employee network of the year.”

Congrats to all winners, and I hope each person continues their support for Ireland’s LGBT community
