The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is expanding its LGBTQ program to Mexico. Partnering with “Francisco Robledo of Alianza por la Diversidad e Inclusión Laboral (ADIL) and Fernando Velazquez of FVConsulting – Consultores en Diversidad e Inclusion” the organization will launch its Global Workplace Equality Program in the new country.
The HRC currently releases the Corporate Equity Index (CEI), a ratings based system that scores US corporations on their workplace diversity initiatives focusing on LGBT equality. The organization will use its successes in America to develop a similar system in Mexico.
According to the HRC, the “Global Workplace Equality Program will increase awareness about the importance of LGBTQ diversity and inclusion Mexico’s workplaces by developing consulting and education models for Mexican companies and organizations. It will also utilize HRC’s tools and relationships to engage interested companies in aligning their corporate policies on LGBTQ inclusion to international standards.”
It’s great to see the HRC expanding its network to a country like Mexico. The CEI has done a phenomenal job in transforming the mindset and corporate practices of large name corporations like Accenture and Walmart. Hopefully Mexican corporations will be open enough to allow for a similar transformation.
