In a recent UK survey of 263 companies, Tech London Advocates found that 60% of tech firms were between 0% and 50% female.  In addition, about 46% of surveyed organizations did not think improving their diversity numbers would improve company performance.

Like America, London based tech organizations struggle with diversity.  Countless articles have been written on the issues companies like Apple and Google experience, but now we are learning that the systemic problems run global.  Alot can be said of the quality of candidates, but it must also be noted that alot of corporations do not value diversity overall.  Despite a recent McKinsey report showing that “for every 10% increase in gender diversity on the senior executive team at U.K. companies, earnings before interest and taxes rose by 3.5%.”, almost half of surveyed tech firms still aren’t buying in.

Change is always hard to enact but the proven benefit of diversity by countless respected organizations must be taken to heart at some point.
