Another month, another series of mixed results for small business confidence. Although the well respected National Federation of Independent Business Index fell slightly from 94.4 to 94.1 for September, “half of the 10 small-business optimism index’s components posted a gain, while five declined.”
As I suggested last month, the nation will continue to see mixed results from small business confidence reports until the Presidential election is complete. Once the election is over, I believe a sharp decline with ensue as neither candidate has outlined a detailed plan for small business.
Keep in mind that it’s not how small businesses view your presidency in the beginning but after you’ve enacted policy. We will continued to keep you posted on the small business confidence radar and update you on the changes (or non changes) next month.
