For starters, I want to commend Mike Pence for attending the diverse Broadway play Hamilton.  It’s no easy task supporting something you know may not support you.

Unfortunately the Vice President was met with boo’s throughout the event, but the hallmark of the night came after the show had finished.  Brandon Dixon, who portrays vice-president Aaron Burr, gave a speech meant for the VP before he left.

“There is nothing to boo here, ladies and gentlemen, we are sharing a story of love.” Dixon began.  "Mike Pence, we welcome you here. We are the diverse Americans who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents.“

"Or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights … we hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us,  We thank you for sharing this wonderful American story, told by a diverse group of men and women of different colors, creeds and orientations.”

Unfortunately, President Trump took the booing of his Vice President as an attack on the man.  According to Trump “Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!”  If President Trump is undone by a few boos during events, our President will have a very difficult time in office.  All Presidents and Vice Presidents get booed at one event or another from George W Bush to Barack Obama.  It happens.

Brandon Dixon’s response to President Trump summarized the night.  "conversation is not harassment, sir,” he wrote on Twitter. “And I appreciate [Mike Pence] for stopping to listen.”
