Congratulations to Howard University for being ranked the #1 historically black college and university in the latest Wall Street Journal College Rankings. The Wall Street Journal only included HBCU’s with over 1,000 students enrolled. Howard University not only led the pack in regards to HBCUs, but it was also the only HBCU to finish in the Top 100 WSJ College rankings, coming in at 86. Finishing out the Top 5 rankings were Spelman College, Hampton University, Tuskegee University, and Xavier University of Louisiana.
The methodology used to rank each school included the following:
- Resources Does the college have the capacity to effectively deliver teaching? (30%)
- Engagement Does the college effectively engage with its students? (20%)
- Outcomes Does the college generate good and appropriate outputs? (40%)
- Environment Is the college providing a learning environment for all students? Does it make efforts to attract a diverse student body and faculty? (10%)
