Paypal launches a new app, Congress passes a bill to protect consumers and much more this week in small business tech news with Forbes Magazine contributor Gene Marks:

  1. Paypal Business is here to assist small businesses. The new app includes, “a unified hub for visualizing payment information, the ability to send photos with invoices, refund processing, sales activity monitoring, quicker funds withdrawal, payment reminders, customer list management and history and better importing functionality.” If you’re a small business customer, Paypal will help you conduct business a lot faster while providing more information.
  2. The Consumer Review Fairness Act plans to protect more consumers across the country. According to Marks, “The bill…protects consumers from inhibiting critical online reviews and limits companies from including provisions in their online use agreements that don’t allow negative reviews.” In short, companies will no longer be allowed to limit consumer feedback.  Great news for frustrated customers, but bad news for organizations with bad customer service.
  3. Have you ever seen a Google car driving through your neighborhood gathering information for Google Maps? Well, Apple is taking that idea one step further. The tech giant plans to use drones to gather data for map information. Even though Google Maps may still retain the title as the better app, Apple Maps will try to offer a better product in the near future. Keep your eye open on Apple’s plan to supersede Google in the map game. They may exclusive tools you can take advantage of.
  4. If you have more than one blog, GoDaddy is looking to make things a little easier for you. GoDaddy is now offering a new tool that helps you manage multiple blogs or websites at once. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your web developers may rejoice with the announcement of GoDaddy’s new tool since it will save them tons of time.
  5. The attention span of Snapchat users is between 2.5 to 2.8 seconds according to advertising reports. Marks points that, “a recent study of Snapchat ads found that they commanded more attention than Instagram or YouTube ads and twice as much attention as Facebook ads.” If you are targeting a younger audience keep your eyes on Snapchat and make sure to take full advantage of the social media platform, it may provide lucrative results.
