CNN is no stranger to diversity. As one of the most diverse cable news networks on television, CNN has brought many quality programs to the public emphasizing the culture of America. Ramon Escobar, vice president of talent recruitment and development for CNN Worldwide will now head its diversity and inclusion initiative, while looking to continue the trend. Escobar will report directly to CNN’s President Jeff Zucker.
Escobar has worked in television for over two decades, first as a news and entertainment network consultant, and as the head of news for Telemundo before being hired with CNN.
This is an important development for the news station. Early 2017 has been a bit of a statement moment for many organizations looking to confirm their commitment to diversity and CNN is no different. With Ramon taking the lead, hopefully CNN will continue its track record as being an ally for various viewpoints and communities.
