“I want it to be a normal thing to be able to see Asian models, and I think Asian models are really underrepresented in the industry, especially on the runways or in magazines,” Chrissy Teigen told E! News during her recent sit down for the Sports Illustrated 2017 Swim issue. Mrs. Teigen is not alone in her sentiments as for years there has been a diversity problem within the fashion industry.  Today diversity means more than just race or gender but also includes size and age as well.  A good example of this is a recent comment in Vogue’s diversity issue explaining that 67 percent of American women wear a size 14 or larger.

During Teigen’s sit with E! News she also spoke about the lack of diversity in film. “I think it’s really important to start embracing people … seeing them in roles that are not necessarily ‘That Asian Girl’ or ‘That Asian Boy’ … In movies you’re like ‘Oh, this Asian girl is dating this white guy’ — I want that to be normal.”
