According to payroll provider ADP, small businesses added 83,000 jobs for the month of May, an 22% increase from the month of April. While the hiring numbers are stronger then the last half of 2016, they are nonetheless fluctuating with March seeing over 100,000 jobs added and April seeing under 70,000.
“A Commerce Department report this week said consumer spending rose 0.4 percent in April, the largest increase in four months, following a 0.3 percent gain in March.” The jobs added to the economy, while a positive, do little to hide the slow economic growth America is still experiencing. Another positive is that unemployment hit a 16 year low despite the drop in monthly job creation compared to March and April.
Overall this is a positive sign for America moving forward.
