Over 150 corporate executives announced a new initiative, C.E.O. Action for Diversity and Inclusion, that commits to fostering diversity and inclusion while also encouraging their employees to have open dialogue on the issue. The group of executives have launched a website that provides practical information and efforts that companies can use to further diversity within the workforce.

Tim Ryan, US chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers, is the pioneer of the initiative. Ryan took a risky step after last year’s Dallas police killings and held an open dialogue with his employees about the incident. After realizing the effectiveness of the dialogue, Ryan reached out to fellow chief executives to enlist them in his effort to foster diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The New York Times spoke to David S. Taylor, chief executive of Procter & Gamble, about the initiative. Taylor said, “… the new initiative had decided to enlist chief executives and go public “to create an expectation that the program will accomplish something.”
