Congratulations is in order for Exelon after a recent press release revealed that the company will be the 27th organization to join the Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR). The BDR is a business advocacy group that connects and acknowledges organizations that have spent at least a billion dollars with minority, women-owned and other diversity-certified businesses in a given year. Exelon will be inducted into the BDR later this month as the first energy company to achieve this level of supplier diversity success.
Exelon and its subsidiaries spent close to $2 billion with certified diverse suppliers in 2016, including vendors offering asphalt manufacturing, fuel distribution, and technology products and services.
In addition to its BDR achievement, according to Business Wire, “DiversityInc. named Exelon a Top 50 company for Diversity. The company also recently joined 150 leading companies for the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ , the largest CEO-driven business commitment to take action to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected.” Lastly, the company partnered with community organizations and nonprofits targeting diverse populations, donating over $40 million in 2016.
