After recent cyberattacks around the globe, many government officials have been developing solutions to combat the problem. The UK has made it no secret that it will go to lengthy measures to protect its citizens. Therefore, the country recently announced the Data Protection Bill. According to CBROnline.com, “The bill aims to grant greater powers to withdraw customer consent, and also to the power for customers to request that their data be returned to them.”
The UK plans to put pressure on businesses to make sure that they protect customers. If you fail to follow simple rules that requires your business to update security software which could put millions of customers’ personal data at risk, your business will take full responsibility for its negligence. With the new bill in full effect businesses will feel the heat and this should help usher in the GDPR era which I will touch on soon….
