Merck, a corporation that offers prescription medicines, vaccines, biologic therapies and animal health products to its clients, was recently inducted into the Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR) this past week. For those unaware, the BDR is an organization that recognizes corporations that have purchased over $1 billion with diverse suppliers. Recently the definition of a diverse supplier was expanded from minority and women owned companies, to include veteran, service disabled veteran LGBT, and disabled owned businesses.
“We are honored to become part of the Billion Dollar Roundtable,” says Quentin Roach, chief procurement officer, Merck. “At Merck, we value diversity and believe that having a diverse supplier base helps us better understand and anticipate the needs of the people we serve. We look forward to sharing best practices with other companies that share in our commitment to diversity and inclusion
Congratulations is in order to the medicine, and scientific research company. Over the past few months, the BDR has seen much growth with more corporations hitting the mark of $1 billion with diverse suppliers. I expect this to continue and for the BDR to continue to grow.
