Regardless of your political views, we can all agree that the string of resignations and firings under the Trump Administration has hit a level that is most concerning.  The latest “former” Trump Administration member now includes Javier Palomarez, President & CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and one of the more vocal supporters of the President over the past few months.

While not initially a Trump believer, once elected, Palomarez was one of the business leaders pushing the notion that supporting the new administration was good for our country.  Despite backlash, Palomarez joined the White House Diversity Council in an effort to promote Hispanic American interests politically, socially, and economically. After receiving countless assurances from the White House and President Trump publicly, Palomarez believed the administration would back Latino positive legislation in particular the support of the DACA program, instituted by executive order under the Obama Administration.  With the recent announcement of the possible ending of the program, Palomarez has decided to part ways with the Trump administration.

According to Palomarez, “Right now in the United States there are some 800,000 law-abiding young people without proper immigration papers who nevertheless proudly call America home. Today President Trump sent them a clear message: They are not welcome here. With its decision to terminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which has protected these “Dreamers” since 2012, the administration claims that it is merely insisting that Congress take responsibility for the program. That is a dodge, and a cowardly one. This cruel new policy is also a direct contradiction of the promise that President Trump made to the Hispanic community only months ago.”
