According to the National Federation of Independent Business’s August Small Business Economic Trends Report, small businesses are looking to increase capital spending which is a much needed positive for the economy.  According to the NFIB Small Business Optimism Index, optimism is at an all time high for small businesses since the recession, with no signs of slowing down any time soon.  Yet despite the optimism and plans for economic growth, this news has not transferred to new jobs.

According to Small Business Trends, “the job creation and job listings components of the index both fell in August, by one point and four points respectively.”  This lack of new jobs may signal a more short term optimism which businesses should take not of moving forward.  Generally new hires are viewed as long term stability so with this drop, some caution must be viewed with these numbers.

Still, there is much to be positive about moving forward.  It would appear that despite the many controversies, for now at least, the American economy is growing.
