The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) recently released a press release highlighting its top corporations of 2017. According to the article, the 66 selected companies “collectively spent more than $39.3 billion on WBENC-Certified WBE suppliers in 2016, an increase of $3.6 billion from the prior year.”  This increase was aided by a commitment to support women owned businesses through formal written policies and annual diversity spend goals.  As we have stated in the past, if your corporation is looking to seriously improve its spend with diverse suppliers, establishing and tracking spend metrics is necessary to achieve this.

WBENC is the largest third party certifying body focused on the support and promotion of women owned businesses.  The non-profit has 14 regional partner organizations that act as certifying bodies for specific areas within the United States.  WBENC is a full service certifying organization providing business development opportunities for all members including corporations, government agencies and 14,000 certified women-owned businesses.  To learn more check out
