If you would have told me 10 years ago that Kobe Bryant, NBA Superstar, and Jordan Peele, Mad TV comedy sketch actor would be sitting at the top of the entertainment field accepting awards for their writing acumen, I would have called you a liar. And yet here we are.
And that is a great thing.
Both Kobe Bryant and Jordan Peele, writer of the smash hit Get Out, are now the poster children for what hard work dedication and believing in yourself despite the naysayers looks like. When Jordan Peele first sought to promote a horror film based on racial tension, I’m sure many told him that it wouldn’t work. But it did. When Kobe Bryant made the jump from the NBA to writing, there were many people who told him it wouldn’t work. But it did.
What excuse do you or any of us now have? With so much support and avenues to success, it is clear that we can all take from these men the simple idea of self-belief and turn that into our own success.
In the video below, it’s funny watching an awkward and supremely nervous Kobe Bryant explain how much he put into getting his short film written, produced, and marketed given his “Black Mamba” nickname and confidence on the court. But that’s just where things are nowadays. With Donald Trump as President and Kobe Bryant an Oscar-winning writer who knows what any of us can achieve if we truly want it.
