Ernst & Young LLP (EY) is the latest corporate member of the National Veterans Business Development Council (NVBDC), “the leading third-party certification organization working to provide opportunities and access for Service Disabled and Veteran Owned Businesses (SD/VOBs).”  According to Rosemary D. Weppler, EY Global Diversity & Inclusiveness Procurement Manager. “EY is excited to join the National Veteran Business Development Council to expand our Diversity & Inclusiveness procurement efforts by helping to identify, develop and increase business with certified veteran-owned businesses.”

The NVBDC is a non profit that offers business opportunities for veteran owned companies by connecting them with major Fortune 500 corporations.  In addition to EY, a few other corporate members of the Michigan based non profit include Kellogg’s, AT&T, Ford, JP Morgan Chase & Co, Google, and Facebook to name a few.  The market for veteran suppliers is growing with the total spend available to qualifying businesses “estimated to be in excess of $80 billion annually.”

Through certification, veteran business owners have access to supplier diversity programs and economic growth. As a global organization, the EY organization is at the forefront with its supplier diversity strategy and is engaged in seeking collaborations with veteran business owners.
