To no one’s surprise, Oprah Winfrey continues to make history as the most successful black female entrepreneur in America.  According to Bloomberg, last month, the “media mogul’s fortune hit a record $4 billion on Monday to make her the first black female entrepreneur on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a ranking of the world’s 500 richest people. She’s at 494, just behind Mark Cubanand Ross Perot.”

Winfrey, who is best known for her popular self titled Oprah Winfrey Show made the list due to the performance of the Weight Watchers International, Inc stock which more than doubled this year, helping increase her fortune by $427 million for 2018 alone.  In addition to the success of the stock, Winfrey recently “announced a partnership with Apple Inc. to produce original programs and content.”

Winfrey’s inclusion in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index “brings the total number of women on the list to 65 and the number of female entrepreneurs to six.”
