The Million Women Mentors® (MWM) program is a movement designed to engage women of all ages in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).  The focus of the program is to “increase the interest and confidence of girls and women to persist and succeed in STEM programs and careers by 2020.”

Originally MWM looked to create one million mentor engagements with women both young and old with industry leaders and experts to grow female STEM involvement by 2020. In 2018, the program surprised the one million mark and is looking to double that number with two million mentoring engagements.  Through these engagements, MWM hopes to:

1. Increase the percentage of high school girls planning to pursue STEM careers.
2. Increase the percentage of young women pursuing undergraduate degrees in STEM fields.
3. Increase the percentage of women staying and advancing in STEM careers through supporting workforce mentoring programs.

Within the MWM movement is a business program which helps women led companies grow.  The program, entitled the Million Women Mentors-Ei Mentor “is a one (1) year development program designed to strengthen and grow Women Business Enterprises (WBEs) whose organization provides a good or service related to science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). The MWM-EI program is designed to match 5-10 WBE’s to a respective larger company to act as their mentor for a year to assist the mentee company in ways to achieve growth.”

Wells Fargo is a key sponsor of the Million Women Mentors-Ei Mentor program and with its connection to the organization, spend over $300 million with women-owned businesses in 2017.  Wells Fargo invests “more than $1 million a year funding diverse business development programs like MWM-Ei,” to help build the capacity of diverse businesses.
