Regardless of what you think about President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee on other issues, when it comes to small business, many believe that Justice Brett Kavanaugh will be a positive addition to the court. The deregulation tone that President Trump has set since his inauguration should continue as Kavanaugh has a history of supporting business issues in particularly when it comes to cost. An example comes from CNBC when “he argued that the Environmental Protection Agency needed to take costs into consideration when deciding whether or not it should regulate power plant emissions.”
In addition, Kavanaugh has also argued against the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, citing that the organization, which enforces regulation (or over regulation depending on your view) on American banks with the purpose of protecting consumers, granted too much power to a single director.
Kavanaugh hasn’t been 100% against regulation as the justice voted in favor of the “individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act — part of President Barack Obama’s signature legislation and a thorn in the side of many small businesses — ” as a legal tax.
Overall “the conservative lobbying group the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)” and the nonpartisan Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council both back the pick seeing a continuation of deregulation for small business.
