According to a recent National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) report, a record number of small businesses are having a difficult time connecting with qualified applicants.  The report comes at a time where small businesses are seeing a strong economy continue to grow amidst a rise in trade war rhetoric.

Wages are not following a strong global economy however, which may be an issue plaguing small business offerings.  The NFIB report revealed that “a net 37% of owners have job openings they haven’t filled. Job openings are most frequent in construction (57%), manufacturing (46%), and wholesale trades (45%).”

With full time employment struggling, temporary employment, while low, rose a point to finish at 13% for the month of July. “A seasonally-adjusted net 23% are planning to create new jobs, up two points from June’s 21 percent.”
