The American Mortgage Diversity Council (AMDC) recently gave a webinar covering vendor diversity and various questions concerning the topic.  The webinar was presented by “Edmond Buckley, President Aspen Grove Solutions, Francisco Reyes, Director, Vendor Oversight, Altisource, Clint Welser, VP, Business Development, Laudan Properties, and Kirk Willison, SVP Government and Industry Relations, Altisource.”

At Supplierty News, we are always discusses different ways that businesses and industries can connect with diverse suppliers and it is great to learn of other organizations doing the same.  According to the AMDC website, “The organization develops and provides tools and strategies to create an understanding and appreciation of individual differences in thought, experience, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, style, sexual orientation and gender identity.”

AMDC has a goal of moving business practices forward while embracing diversity and inclusion which can lead to optimal business results.

The webinar covered the details of Small Business Administration (SBA) designation including HUBZone qualifications and its connection to “federal contracts related to Low-Income Tax Credit areas. They also gave details on the different types of minority-owned enterprises that could qualify to get certified for businesses. These included LGBT-owned, service veteran-owned, small business entities, women-owned business entities, and minority business entities.”

In addition to covering an overview of the subject, the speakers also discussed ways to track and report diverse supplier spend, as well as benchmarking and business case support for a diverse supplier network.
