The 70th Emmy Awards took aim at diversity when Saturday Night Live cast members Kate McKinnon and Kenan Thompson introduced the awards show by informing the audience that hte issue of diversity and inclusion had been solved in Hollywood.

The “solving” of the matter led to a song and dance included “Tituss Burgess, Kristen Bell, Sterling K. Brown, and Ricky Martin,  as well as RuPaul, who carried a phone with the news that diversity had in fact not been solved.”

Recently minted EGOT winner John Legend joined in as well on the singing and dancing, as well as Andy Samberg, who “was lowered onto the stage on a moon sliver, only to be informed that he would have to exit the proceedings” for being a white male.

A funny introduction that shouldn’t be taken too seriously, but a nice play at the growing representation in Hollywood.
