The Trump Administration is looking to institute a law that would require a person’s gender to be defined by their genitalia at birth. Many are condemning this as an attack on transgender people, believing this will result in a decrease of protections under existing federal civil rights laws for them.
In response to this action, corporations have publicly joined forces with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), an LGBT business group, to fight against the potential new law. According to On Top Mag, top corporations that have joined the movement include Google, Facebook, Amazon, Uber, Nike, JP Morgan Chase, Coca Cola, Ben & Jerry’s, American Airlines, and more.
“Transgender people are our beloved family members and friends, and our valued team members. What harms transgender people harms our companies. We call for respect and transparency in policy-making, and for equality under the law for transgender people,” the companies said.
