A recent report revealed a new partnership between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Small Business Administration (SBA) in a bid to connect veteran entrepreneurs with government contracts. The new deal would create a workforce training program and give ” priority placement for government contracts to veteran-owned small companies. . The VA said it already has more than $6 billion set aside for contract opportunities that could apply to the new deal.”

According to Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie, this new agreement will help the veteran population significantly. “Our veterans population is changing,” Wilkie said. “It’s younger. It’s computer savvy. It’s used to the service economy, and those are the kinds of energy that we need to harness, not only to serve young entrepreneurial minds but also to make the Department of Veterans Affairs stronger and make it a 21st century institution.”
