The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) won the top honors in Omnikal’s Omni50 Award Winning Government Agency which recognizes the top government agencies that provide multicultural business opportunities. The 2019 award is USPS’s 19th year as an awardee and its 8th consecutive year of winning the top honors.
The awardees were determined by a survey of Omnikal members on their opinion about business initiatives provided for women and minority-owned businesses. Some of the efforts of the USPS to engage with multicultural entrepreneurs and businesses include facilitating one-on-one business meetings, hosting workshops, reaching out to register small businesses and posting online marketing guide for organizations.
The polices of USPS support inclusiveness, collaborating with diverse partners in order to maintain rapport with businesses. USPS is at the center of the American mailing industry that provides work and employment to more than 75 million people and relies only on the sale of postage, services and products for the funding of its operations. According to USPS Vice President of Supply Management Susan M. Brownell, they recognize supplier diversity as an important part of their procurement strategy and will continue to maintain a sustainable and competitive supplier base that reflects the diversity of the U.S. supplier sector.
