Stephanie Smith was recently appointed chief inclusion and diversity officer of Fifth Third Bank with responsibilities that include the development and execution of an ecosystem of inclusion and the promotion of stakeholder involvement and engagement.

Smith has been with the bank for 21 years and has served as director of supplier diversity since 2015. In this position, she helped the bank increase its spending with diverse suppliers. She also helped the bank established relationships with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Small Business Administration and the National Minority Supplier Development Council.

In 2018, Smith was recognized by Diversity Plus Magazine for her accomplishments in supplier diversity initiatives. The bank was also named by WBENC as one of America’s Top Corporations and its Supplier Diversity Program was recognized as one of the Best of the Decade by Minority Business News.

Smith believes the inclusion and diversity is a never-ending work and she hopes to continue to make contributions to the bank’s inclusion and diversity efforts.
