Atlanta, GA…Friday, July 26, 2019…Over 90 percent of top U.S. Corporations have a supplier diversity spending goal and recognizing that diversity is among the top five strategic imperatives for CEO’s running large companies, business strategist, Monica McCoy, is working to connect these companies with under-represented founders.

The founder and visionary behind the Global Supplier Diversity Conference (GSDC), McCoy is also a highly sought after, award-winning global speaker, executive coach and author, whose company, Monica Motivates, has developed and executed strategic programs to help under-represented founders pursue, win and successfully maintain corporate contracts.

“More than ever before, attending to diversity is critical to helping companies penetrate untapped markets and attract a mix of employees who offer innovative ways to meet customer needs,” says McCoy.  “Our mission is to ensure that these companies have effective means of tapping into the talent available among under represented founders and that those business owners are fully prepared, when those corporate doors open,” she said.

A former Acting Global Director of Strategy and Innovation for the McDonald’s Division for The Coca-Cola Company, McCoy left the Coca-Cola Company in 2017 after 15 successful years. Now her business focus is changing the data one Founder at a time for women and underrepresented founders via impactful programming, curriculum, and strategic partners.

To date, McCoy has assisted over 3,259 underrepresented minority and women-owned businesses around the country, prepare to win through her company’s Pitch University and Global Supplier Diversity Curriculum programs, both of which provide key strategies to securing investors and landing corporate contracts.  

The first GSDC was held in Atlanta in September 2018 and featured business leaders and corporate executives, many with extensive diversity and inclusion experience from major companies, who shared key insights with attendees.  Speakers included Nzinga Shaw, senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer for the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena; Steve Bucherati, president of The Bucherati Group, and former Global Chief Diversity Officer for The Coca-Cola Company; Delia Cochran, founder, Delia Cochran Consulting and former Coca-Cola executive instrumental in building global women leadership programs; Adrienne Lance Lucas, CEO of Lance Lucas & Associates and Linda Clemmons, an award winning sales producer, renowned body language expert and CEO of Sisterpreneur, Inc.  

This year’s Conference will again be held in Atlanta and will also feature successful entrepreneurs and top corporate executives as keynote speakers, including Maria Rios, president/CEO of Nation Waste, Inc., the first female Hispanic-owned waste removal company in U.S. history, and one o the largest minority-owned companies in the state of Texas.  Also bringing keynote addresses will be Charles Thomas, the first Chief Data and Analytics Officer for General Motors, who plays a key role in GM’s digital transformation to ensure customer, corporate and business data are managed as a strategic asset and Corporate Senior Vice President for Beiersdorf’s Asia and Pacific Region, Christine Mei. The company’s portfolio includes skincare brands like Nivea, Eucerin and Aquaphon.
