Creative Artists Agency (CAA) third annual invitation-only CAA Amplify summit was held in Ojai, California on June 24, 2019. The event gathered together leading diverse executives and artists from different organizations in sports, entertainment, media, social justice, technology and brands. It provided a platform for decision makers and influencers to evaluate industry trends affecting the cultural landscape.
The summit featured conversations with actors Jamie Foxx and Michael B. Jordan, film writer and director Destin Daniel Cretton, Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson and Ford Foundation president Darren Walker.
It also featured actor Riz Ahmed, actress Eva Longoria, political satirist Bassem Youssef, National Immigration Forum executive director Ali Noorani and National Women’s Law Center president and CEO Fatima Goss Graves. According to CAA executive Ruben Garcia, social action is woven into the organization’s fabric since the CAA Foundation was established in 1995. Aside from Amplify, CAA has also developed the Creators Summit series, the Writers Boot Camp and the Television Showrunner Mentorship Program to provide greater opportunities for underrepresented groups. It also launched the CAA Motion Picture Cast Diversity Index in 2017 to determine the correlation among diverse casting, diverse audiences, and box office success and better understand the business case for diversity in motion picture programming.
