Sempra Energy has announced that it will donate $20,000 to the Fisher House Foundation for its second annual Veterans Day grant.

The foundation will use the money to support its Heroes’ Legacy Scholarship program which provides scholarships to children of fallen and disabled veterans. Aside from scholarships, the Fisher House Foundation also provides free housing and transportation to military and veteran families when a loved one is admitted to a Veterans Affairs or military hospital.

According to Sempra Energy chairman and CEO Jeffrey W. Martin, they are inspired by the work of the Fisher House Foundation. He also said that, as a veteran himself, he is proud of his company’s commitment to support veterans and their families.

In the last five years, Sempra has donated around $2.5 million for veterans and active-duty service members. In addition to financial grants and donations, the company also supports veterans through its supplier diversity programs and participation in job fairs for veterans.
