NASCAR and Rev Racing have selected six ethnically diverse and female drivers who will participate in the 2020 NASCAR Drive for Diversity Driver Development Program.
The team includes new member Perry Patino and returning drivers Isabella Robusto, Rajah Caruth, Gracie Trotter, Nicholas Sanchez and Chase Cabre.
These young drivers were selected from the combine competition held at the New Smyrna Speedway and Daytona International Speedway. They were evaluated for their proficiencies in late stock car models and their media and marketing skills.
Sanchez and Cabre will compete in the ARCA Menards Showdown Series and the ARCA Menards Series East. Trotter, Robusto, Patino and Caruth will compete in NASCAR Late Model races.
This will be the first time for Robusto and Caruth to compete in late model stock car racing. Robusto’s experience is with Legends cars while Caruth’s background is with iRacing and is a product of the eNASCAR IGNITE Series.
According to NASCAR’s Director of Racing Operations and Event Management Jusan Hamilton, the 2020 team members exemplify the evolution of their diversity diver development program. He also said they were very impressed with the raw talent, competitive drive and confidence of all of the drivers who participated in this year’s combine.
