Social media company Pinterest has launched the Pinterest Shop which will feature “Product Pins” from small businesses. Some of the products that will be featured at the shop include hair products from CurlMix, leather goods from Fount and grapefruit cardamom body oil from Etta + Billie.
Pinterest has decided to increase its focus on online shopping after it missed its revenue target for the third quarter of 2019. The company is expecting an adjusted loss of between $10-30 million in 2019. It is targeting moms 18-64 years old since they make up 80% of the site’s total audience in the U.S.
The company is already hosting millions of Product Pins that users can tap to buy. It has also introduced a feature that will allow companies to promote product collections and improved its visual search feature to recognize more home and fashion products.
