The International Energy Agency (IEA) hosted a high-level event in Paris that aims to advance gender diversity in the energy industry. It was chaired by New Zealand’s Minister of Energy and Resources Megan Wood and Canada’s Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Christyne Tremblay.

The attendees included executives from major energy companies and senior government officials of IEA countries including the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Finland, Belgium, Austria and Australia.

The participants highlighted the need to integrate gender into energy policies, promote the employment of women in the industry and share best practices. They also recognized the activities of the Equal by 30 campaign and the C3E TCP initiatives. They plan to use these initiatives as platforms for sharing best practices and in strengthening their collaboration in reducing the barriers to the employment and promotion of women.
