The New York University (NYU) received a Gold Star rating from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking Assessment & Rating System (STARS). The Gold score places the university in the top 30% of certified institutions in the U.S.

The highlights of the 2020 STARS report include good ranking in sustainable transportation, purchasing and landscape management. The university scored high in the sustainability of research conducted on its campuses. NYU also had majority points in the Diversity & Affordability subcategory, Public Engagement and Campus Engagement.

NYU Chief Sustainability Office Cecil Scheib, their success in maintaining their Gold status and the improvement in their score since 2011 reflect their achievements in terms of sustainability over the past decade.
