A survey conducted by IBM found that 91% of artificial intelligence (AI) professionals believe that improved diversity is having a positive impact on AI technology. The IBM Global Women in AI study included more than 3,000 AI professionals in the U.S. Canada, Europe and India.
The findings reveal that AI professionals said the industry has become more diverse over the past few years. Around 86% of the respondents are confident about the ability of AI system to make decisions without bias and 74% believe that the industry must become more diverse to achieve its full potential.
The study also found that 90% of AI professionals are at least somewhat confident in having AI as a team member. Women were more likely to face career hurdles than men. These professional challenges include discrimination, lack of opportunities, discouragement, trusting the technology they built and getting an organization to use AI.
