Mass Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC) has introduced the 2030 Challenge and called on its more than 450 members in Massachusetts to increase the percentage of their Black employees to 10% and Latinx workers to 14% by 2030. The association has also called on its members to commit to the Tech Compact for Social Justice, which outlines the steps to accomplish the 2030 Challenge.

Companies that sign the Tech Compact will need to introduce or expand their educational programs that promote diversity, invest in students of color, increase the diversity of their leadership teams and boards and advocate for public policies that provide opportunities for people of color. They will also be required to self-report demographic data of employees and hiring practices starting in June 2022. More than 60 tech companies have already signed the pact including Akamai, iRobot, TripAdvisor, Verizon and Wayfair.
