The city government of Akron, Ohio is looking for applicants to fill the position of contract compliance and supplier diversity officer. This position was recommended by the city’s procurement and inclusion. According to Mayor Dan Horrigan, only 5% of the city’s purchasing budget in 2019 went to minority-owned businesses and that is unacceptable.

The contract compliance and supplier diversity officer will establish and oversee the city’s supplier diversity program and will have a role in the Purchasing and Engineering departments. He/she will set goals and establish metrics for procurement, contracting and subcontracting; develop programs and policies to increase opportunities for minority-owned businesses; and review plans, contracts and projects.

The requirements include a degree in economics, public administration or related field and at least five-year experience in performing contract compliance, procurement and supplier diversity initiatives. The interview process will start on October 12 and will continue until the right candidate is found. Interested parties may contact Deputy Director of Finance Shelley Goodrich at SGoodrich@akronohio.gov or 330-375-2316.
