In a company blog, Google’s Chief Procurement Officer Jennifer Moceri wrote that they would expand its supplier diversity program beyond the U.S. and spend $2.5 billion with diverse suppliers in 2022. The tech giant decided to increase its diverse spending goal after exceeding last year’s $1 billion goals by $500 million.

The new spending target complements Google’s several other initiatives to promote a more inclusive procurement process. These include the Accelerated Payments Program, the Certification Access Program and the Google Tuck Digital Excellence Program at Dartmouth.

Google’s move will put it in the same category as other tech companies spending billions annually with diverse suppliers and partners. Microsoft spent almost $4 billion with diverse-owned businesses globally in 2019. In 2020, IBM Spent $2.1 billion with first-tier diverse suppliers worldwide.
