The National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC) signed a Strategic Alliance Memorandum with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to uphold a common mission to help maintain and expand small veteran-owned businesses. The two organizations will work together in the spirit of open communication to meet the needs of the veteran business community.

The partnership aims to develop and foster a mutual understanding and a working relationship to strengthen and expand small veteran business certification. The NVBDC will support the SBA in its efforts to eliminate veteran business “ineligible contracts.” It will work to re-establish and maintain federal contracting opportunities for veteran businesses.

In response to the SBA request, the NVBDC provided extensive comments on the agency’s proposed rule to establish and implement a certification program for Veteran-Owned Small Business Concerns and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Concerns seeking federal government procurement opportunities. The NVBDC argued that the Veterans Affairs certification program never met the standards accepted by the corporate supplier diversity community.
