Merck & Co. partnered with Paradigm for Parity to launch the Paradigm for Parity Profit and Loss Leadership Accelerator for Multicultural Women in January 2022. The six-month online development program aims to help early-career women build skills and capabilities needed for profit and loss management roles within an organization.
The participants include six women of color from Merck and women from other participating companies. They were divided into five teams and performed exercises related to running their companies over a simulated three-year period. Each assessed the impact of their decision on their company’s performance through periodic assessments.
A key component of the program is the opportunity for participants to work with and gain knowledge from female mentors. Each participant was matched with a female mentor from their own company and an external mentor from another company. Merck hopes the program can help continue to break down barriers and improve equal opportunity for the advancement of women of color within the company.
