The University of Kentucky partnered with Turner Construction to launch the inaugural Construction Diversity Accelerator (CDA) program. The 10-week program aims to help underrepresented construction-related businesses gain access to the tools, resources and opportunities needed to succeed in the industry. It will cover site logistics, insurance and bonding, construction drawings and specifications, bid and proposal preparation, construction accounting and certification.
Marilyn Clark, the supplier diversity manager at the University of Kentucky, said they are excited to partner with Turner Construction and the Kentucky Procurement Technical Assistance Center to bring a holistic approach to the accelerator program.
For Turner Construction, community and citizenship manager Kristen Smitherman-Voltaire said they have always been committed to engaging with and supporting the development of underrepresented businesses in our communities for decades and this program serves as an extension of that commitment.
The deadline for application is on February 1, 2022. Only 15 companies will be accepted for the 2022 season. Classes will be held in person at the Gatton Student Center beginning March 8. Interested parties may visit https://forms.office.com/r/DjqrHDyNBJ.
